Balanced EPDs, ultrasound measurements and scrotal size are giving cowmen the edge at market time. The 2007 sale season unveiled high demand for Western Edge progeny. Across the country this spring, in sales where Western Edge progeny sold, many of the top sellers and high-selling sire groups carried the blood of Edge. Western Edge bulls were the high-averaging sale group at Rambur Charolais; Hubert Charolais Ranch where 22.5 sons averaged $4,200 and at Lindskov-Thiel where 19 sons averaged $7553. Six Western Edge show heifer prospects sold at Lehman’s Endless Opportunities V for an average of $3,450.

And his outcross Genex sire, LT Western Spur, sharpens the edge even more adding the Eatons Predictor bloodline. Western Edge’s EPDs rank him in the top 20% of the breed for low birth, top 3% for weaning, top 4% for yearling, top 25% for scrotal and top 20% for both ribeye and marbling. With over 170 registered progeny, his bull calves average 89.6 lbs. at birth; 724 lbs. at weaning to ratio 102 and 1,316 lbs. at yearling to ratio 103. His daughters average 82.9 lbs. at birth; 649 lbs. at weaning to ratio 104 and 925 lbs. at yearling to ratio 101.
